The Winter Palace by Eva Stachntak

I'm really starting to love Costco's book table!  I'm typically a library person rather than a book buyer, but lately I've found some gems at Costco that I haven't been able to resist.  When we went on vacation in February, I made sure to stock up on good books, and this was definitely one of my favourites.  Of course, since historical fition is my absolute favourite genre, it's pretty hard for me not to love a book like this. :)

The Winter Palace tells the story of the rise to power of Catherine the Great, Grand Czarina of Russia.  Filled with enthralling tales of court intrigue, spying, deception, punishment, and political assignations, this book is very well written and an exciting read.  Highly recommend!

  1. I really enjoyed this one too. Made those old dusty little-known Czarist characters come alive.
