March 3, 2016 The Private Man by Chris Laing

Hello All! Sorry this is so long in coming.

Discussion Questions:
1. Did you enjoy the book?
2. Do you think the characters and their problems/decisions/relationships were believable or realistic? If not, was the author trying to make them realistic? Which secondary characters added a lot to the story.
3. What are some of the similarities to "Unbroken" for re-entry into society for veterens in this book, what are some differences.
4. Did the fact that this book was set in Hamilton add to the story for you?
5. What was more important in this story, the plot or the characters? Where the characters at the mercy of the plot or did they drive the plot?
6. What are some major themes in this book? are they relevant for today? Where they effectively developed?
7. Was there redemption in this book for any of the characters?
8. Would you call this book funny, sad, suspenseful, touching, disturbing, or moving? What would characterize it and why?
9. Did you like the secretary/assistant? Why or why not?
10. Do you feel like justice was served in this book? Did it make it a satisfying read?
11. Was this a well written book? Who's perspective is it written from and does it make it more believable?

bite size appetizers.
This book was written in a setting where food shortages and rations were just being lifted. So anything is fair game! Try to think local though because I kind of doubt that they were importing squid from Timbuktoo at this point in time.

I will take care of wine and sparkling beverages.

  7. Good morning all! Sorry for the last minute change for me, but my little one is home sick today so we've had to switch around our work schedules. As such, my hubby is working this evening so I won't be able to make it tonight. Bummer! Was really looking forward to connecting with everyone, and all the yummy eats!
