Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand
What a good read!! From the cover- On a May afternoon in 1943, an army air forces bomber crashed into the pacific Ocean and disappeared, leaving only a spray of debris and a slick of oil, gasoline, and blood. Then, on the ocean surface, a face appeared. It was that of a young lieutenant, the plane's bombardier, who was struggling to a life raft and pulling himself aboard. So began one of the most extraordinary odysseys of the second World War.
Laura Hillenbrand does an excellant job taking you through the life of Louis Zamperini. Zamperini a wild boy (seriously if you think your child is "bad" read about Zamperini as a child it will make you feel better!), then an olympian runner, and onto the war, his story will give you chills.
To think there are thousands of others who have stories like Zamperini's who fought for our freedom! We cannot begin to imagine what these men/woman went through.

Anyone remember reading Seabiscuit for the meeting that never happened? Those who tried to read it all gave up b/c it was such a tiresome read?
ReplyDeleteDid you find this one really well written, Melissa or just a really interesting story?
