Fionavar Tapestry by Guy Gavriel Kay

Those of you who enjoyed the fantasy element of Ysabel and find yourselves curious about the story behind Kim and her husband Dave may enjoy reading their story as found in the Fionavar Tapestry.  This book is really a triology published in one volume and it may be less arm-straining to read the books individually: The Summer Tree, The Wandering Fire and The Darkest Road.  The fantasy elements are much more dominant in this book and are written with the same skill and passion as Ysabel.   The trilogy begins with 4 loosely connected students on the UofT campus who are pulled into this mysterious world where they have a role to fill regardless of whether they will accept it or not.  Like Ysabel, it explores time, culture, our relationship to both the past and the future and our ability to connect with the "gods".  The language is this book is far cleaner than Ysabel and you will find yourself quickly sucked in to the storyline.

A marvelous and though-provoking read.  I have this one on my shelf if you are interested in borrowing it.  :-)
